If nature could talk to us, what would it say? YouthRIFF invites children 2-7 to come watch a new Icelandic documentary and after take part in a nature workshop hosted by the producers of the film in the beautiful surroundings of Nordic House.
Dcoumentary from the POV of a five-year old child
Ísey: Ísey: Child of Nature is a new Icelandic documentary by Linda Ásgeirsdóttir. Ísey is a five year old girl who grows up in Iceland with her younger brother Frans. With an Icelandic mother and an Estonian father she finds her way in life with two languages and two different cultures, twining them together with magical moments, independent discoveries and being together with her family, friends.... and nature.
What do we see, hear and feel when we stop to take a look around in nature? By joining the film, being outside and creative communication, participants will get the chance to stop, look and ponder their own connection with the nature around us. Participants get space to express their experience with words and make stories out of them.
Children must be accompanied by adults
The workshop is based on an ecological ideology of understanding our environment, with a pedagogical focus on deepening our bond with all living thigs. It's important that guardians are well prepared and that everyone is dressed for the weather of the day. If the weather is not in our favor, the workshop will take place within the library of the Nordic House.
